BBJ Design Group Is Back!

Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) come in all sizes.  If Boeing makes a jet, then it can easily be converted into lavish personal transportation for the 1%.

Lucky for the flight sim enthusiasts we have talented painters like the BBJ Design Group to make those BBJ’s a reality in our virtual worlds.

BBJ Design Group’s first release, the 777 VIP

You might recall last summer they released their Boeing 777 VIP repaint  for the POSKY 777 model.  This paint is one of my favorites to circle the earth in.  Whether it is crossing the pond or crossing a continent, you can do it in style.

There are some exciting things to come for this talented group.  Not only are they working on an updated version of the 777-300 VIP livery, but they also are working on a version for the 777-200.  And to complete the Boeing lineup, BBJ Design Group plans to offer VIP liveries for the 747-8i and the more mainstream 737-BBJ.

Head on over to their Facebook page and show them some love.  They are also taking requests, so ask nicely and perhaps your favorite BBJ will be added to their livery lineup.

A Beautiful Italian for X-Plane

Italians are known for their sense of design.  Edgy, curvy, modern, and flowing all can be used to describe Italian designs in furniture, cars, and even aircraft. The Piaggio P.180 Avanti is an aircraft that will make everyone stop in their tracks.  The canard design and low drag, curvy lines of the fuselage screams performance.  The Avanti II is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6 engines which gives it a cruise speed of 320 knots and a range of 1,400 nm.  In fact, it does this while using 40% less fuel than similar sized jets. <wikipedia> <Piaggio Aero>

Climbing out over Catalina

Available for X-Plane since the beginning of 2010 and updated very recently, the Avanti Alterna has been beautifully modeled by Vic Kabernique.  Featuring full instrumentation, clickable panels, an incredible livery, and a very realistic sound set makes this model a must for any X-Plane pilot.

I had the chance to fly this baby on a test flight from KSAN to KSBA recently.  The only word that comes to mind is impressive.  The level of detail put into the eye candy, the flight dynamics, and the sound are on par with modellers charging $30+ and Vic offers his model as freeware.  Add in the fact that you get a COMPLETE set of 28 liveries with the download and this package sets a new standard by which all other freeware for X-Plane will be measured.

So, stop reading and head over to X-Plane.org and get this baby for your hangar.  If you don’t, you are so missing out!
